Here is my smart little girl. This is what 7 months in a loving home produces.
Here is where we started:
(I think I worked out the technical difficulties).Meghan's birthday was Monday. I, however, was on a plane back from California. So true to our family form, we are just not telling her that it was her birthday and we instead are celebrating on Saturday (still stressing about the cake by the way). I will post pictures from her party next week.
So, what milestones have we reached in the 7 months home?
Meghan:
is totally pool safe
loves Mac n cheese (microwaveable- yes!)
knows more English than I can count
Speaks in complete sentence (although usually misses an infinitive or a pronoun)
needs to be enrolled in dance classes
loves her brothers
loves hotels (we stay in Hampton Inns for swim meets)
loves the computer especially Starfall and Odyssey
loves to run and play rough
Meghan Dislikes:
Soda or carbonation
Being told no
Being told that she is too loud
Being told that she should chew with her mouth shut
Being told she can't have dessert unless she eats her dinner
Being told that she can't watch TV while she eats.
Basically, she doesn't like when she is not the boss.
Right now I keep telling her that she is a kid. She doesn't need to worry about being in charge. I am the boss. I keep telling her that I will take care of her. She still is very self centered, pushing her way to the front and trying to be in control of things. She butts into conversations between myself and other adults (which is very exasperating to the other adults because usually they can't understand her).
So now that I started this post over a week ago I better go ahead and publish it (not publishing it because I was trying to upload the video that we took of our first skype call with Meghan).
Her reading is quite good, what progress! You must be so proud of her. Meghan has come a long way and must be feeling more confident.
