Catching Up

Since I last posted we have had a lot going on. To start off, on Halloween, my oldest son got a stress fracture in his SI joint. That joint is I believe where his pelvis meets his spine. Then he proceeded to work out on it , thinking it was muscle aches and actually developed a real fracture. 10 days later he was in incredible pain. After x-rays and 2 MRI's, hospital overnight stay and a lot of blood work they found the injury. He was sent home only to develop a fever. 4 days later we were back in the hospital while they figured out he had a staph infection and he would need antibiotics through an IV for the next 6 weeks. We spent 5 nights and 6 days in the hospital, an hour from home. Tom and I took turns sleeping at the hospital so that Ryan would never be alone. We came home, from the hospital, exhausted, on Tuesday of Thanksgiving week. We had to learn how to take care of Ryan's PICC line and change his IV. STRESSFUL!

While we were at the hospital we missed our one year family day. I had been planning a big Chinese feast and I had a photo book of Meghan's first year home to give her. Maybe next year.

But on top of all this, I found so much to be thankful for this year. I am so thankful that Ryan is on the mend and that we are all home together. I am thankful for all the people who prayed for us during these past few weeks. I am thankful for the doctors and the WONDERFUL nurses who took care of us. And I am thankful that God was with us the whole time and didn't let me give over to fear. Happy Thanksgiving!
